Un terremoto de magnitud 7.3 se registr\u00f3 en el mar frente a las islas de Tonga este viernes 11 de noviembre, inform\u00f3 el Servicio Geol\u00f3gico de Estados Unidos (USGS), activando una alerta de tsunami que posteriormente fue levantada.
De acuerdo con la instancia, el movimiento tel\u00farico se produjo a una profundidad de 10 kil\u00f3metros y a unos 200 kil\u00f3metros del sureste de Neiafu, una ciudad en el noreste de este archipi\u00e9lago del Pac\u00edfico.
El USGS estim\u00f3 inicialmente que el terremoto fue de magnitud 7.1, pero despu\u00e9s revis\u00f3 sus datos y dijo que el fue de 7.3. Una hora despu\u00e9s, se registr\u00f3 otro sismo de magnitud 5.1 en una zona cercana.
Ante este panorama, el Servicio Meteorol\u00f3gico de Tonga pidi\u00f3 a la poblaci\u00f3n a permanecer en el interior y en tierras altas y a estar atentos a la radio hasta nuevo aviso, adem\u00e1s de que pidi\u00f3 a las embarcaciones mantenerse mar adentro.
Debido a la fuerza del terremoto, se tuvo que activar la alerta de tsunami en el archipi\u00e9lago ubicado en pleno coraz\u00f3n del Oc\u00e9ano Pac\u00edfico sur. En redes sociales, los usuarios compartieron videos del escalofriante sonido que emiten los altavoces cuando hay amenazas de alto oleaje tras un fuerte movimiento tel\u00farico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
